How to manage access to your Wi-Fi

How to manage access to your Wi-Fi and set up guest Wi-Fi access

The Bell Wi-Fi app lets you set up guest Wi-Fi access without requiring a separate guest network (SSID), which can sometimes cause interference. Instead, you can set up unique passwords for each user or group and decide when they can use your Wi-Fi and what devices they can access. Under the Access tab, you will see a button for each level of access:

  • Full access: There are no limitations in this access level. With full access, users will be able to connect to the Internet as well as all your devices. This access level is good for employees, colleagues and trusted visitors.
  • Limited access: Shared devices on your network (such as printers or smart speakers) will only be visible to users in this access level if you allow it. You can also set up rules to disable the Wi-Fi for your guest automatically. You can set a password to auto-disable in one hour, three hours, at the end of the day or a time and date of your choosing. Limited access is good for guests and temporary visitors to your business.
  • Internet Only: Users in this access level will only be able to connect to the Internet and not any shared network devices. You can also set up time limits for these users. This access level is ideal for one-time visitors or users who need Internet access without being able to access your shared network devices (such as printers or smart speakers).

If you have many guests or visitors, you can use the same password for everyone or set up several passwords for each access level, so you can disable, edit or delete access for individual users at any time. You can have a total of 30 unique passwords for your entire network. Unused passwords can always be deleted to create new ones. Passwords must be eight to 64 characters in length.
