Bell broadband services: Site readiness checklist

In order to ensure your site is service ready there are some basic power, space and environment requirements that will need to be in place prior to the installation.

Please ensure that any necessary steps that must be taken to align to the site readiness checklist are completed prior to the installation date.

Note: For more complex installations, a technician may be sent for a site visit to complete a visual evaluation of your location and will provide more specific requirements for your particular service.

General requirements

  • For new building construction, please ensure there is a pathway (conduit and/or support structure) to enable connectivity from Bell facilities to the main telephone or electrical room
  • If you have asked to extend the service past the demarcation point, please ensure there is a clear wiring path that meets industry standards
  • Where the wiring path requires additional support or security, please ensure there is conduit (with a pull string) from the demarcation point to the service termination point based on the building management requirements
  • Please provide right-of-way building access, building space and required housing facilities for the installation of network cabling and equipment
  • Ensure keys or codes for all rooms and/or appropriate remote terminal locations, main telephone room and all terminating locations are available to your site contact during the installation period
  • If within a multi-floor building or strip mall there may be multiple termination points outside the main terminal, our technicians will require access to all locations

Main building terminal and telephone room requirements

  • Please ensure there is approximately 15 cm (6 inches) of available space in the rack or sufficient wall space (2ft x 2ft) on backboard for cable termination
  • Please ensure there is adequate space in front of rack and backboard for access to install or troubleshoot any Bell terminating equipment

Suite requirements

Backboard and space:

  • Please ensure there is approximately 15 cm (6 inches) of available space in the rack or sufficient wall space (2ft x 2ft) on backboard for cable termination
  • Please ensure there is adequate space in front of rack/backboard for access to install or troubleshoot any Bell terminating equipment

Grounding:

  • Please ensure a suitable source for single point grounding is available in the room
  • Bell equipment must be grounded to the main electrical feed
  • If not already in place, a dedicated ground wire should run from the backboard to the grounding location

Power:

  • Minimum of 2 x 110v AC outlets or 30amp for DC are required for equipment
  • If not already in place, necessary wiring must be installed

Riser conduit:

  • If required, minimum 2 inch diameter conduit is needed to run copper or fibre cabling from main terminal to suite
  • All bends in conduit must have a minimum 10" radius and no more than two 90 degree bends between pull boxes. The conduit is to be equipped with a pull rope

Length of conduit:

Please provide maximum length on how much copper or fibre cable is required to ensure enough cable is procured.
