How to set up an administrator password on my 2Wire 2701 modem
- Open your web browser.
- Type home or 192.168.2.1 in the address bar.
- Click Settings.
- Click Password.
- Select Enable password protection.
- Select Use default system password. The default login is admin and the default password is admin.
- If you would like to use your own password, select Create or edit a custom password.
- Enter the login information you want.
- Scroll to and click Save.

How to connect my 2Wire 2701 modem
- Plug one end of the phone cable into the DSL port on the back of the modem.
- Assuming your modem will be sharing the wall jack with a phone, plug a splitter into the wall jack first.
- Plug the modem's phone cord directly (no filter) into one of the jacks of the splitter. In the other jack, plug a filter and then plug your phone to the filter. Plug your phone into the other jack but this time you need to add a filter between the phone and the jack.
- Add a filter to any other device (phone, fax machine, satellite receiver) in your home that is connected to a phone jack. NOTE: Filters eliminate noise on your phone line to help improve speeds and prevent service interruptions.
- Connect one end of the Ethernet cable to any Ethernet port on the back of the modem. Then, connect the other end of that Ethernet cable into your computer's Ethernet port.
- Connect one end of the power supply to the modem and the other end into a surge-protected power bar (not included).
- Turn on your computer and the modem and make sure all your modem lights are green.

- Remove the cable. Wait 10 seconds and reinsert the cable.
- Wait while the modem goes through its start-up routine.

How to reset TCP/IP (Windows)
- Click Start.
- Click Run.
- Enter cmd.
- Click OK.
- Enter netsh int ip reset c:\resetlog.txt in the command console.
- Press Enter on your keyboard.
- Wait briefly while TCP/IP is reset and a log file is created.
- To view the log file, click Start.
- Click My Computer.
- Click Local Disk (C:).
- Scroll to and double-click on resetlog.txt.
- The log for the TCP/IP reset is displayed. The log will confirm that the reset has been completed.

How to change existing wireless settings on my 2Wire 2701 modem
- Open a web browser.
- Type home or 192.168.2.1 in the address bar.
- Click Wireless.
- Ensure wireless security is enabled.
- Click the drop-down menu next to Authentication type.
- Select the authentication type you require (e.g. WPA2-PSK).
- You can select Use default encryption key printed on the system label.
- If you prefer using your own key (password), select Set custom encryption key and specify a password.
- Scroll to and click Save.

How to connect to a wireless network (Windows 7)
- Click the wireless network icon.
- Select the wireless network you want to use (e.g., My Bell Network).
- Click Connect.
- For the security key, enter the password for the wireless network.
- Click OK.
- Wait while the computer connects to the network.
- Select the appropriate network location (e.g., Home network).
- The computer is now connected to the wireless network.
